Choosing wedding stamps is like choosing “jewelry” for your wedding invitations.

Some newlyweds get overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices and end up thinking, “Forget it, I’ll just buy the one with the Liberty Bell design; as long as it gets delivered, it’s fine.”

Don’t settle for anything less than the best.

The USPS has issued thousands of stamps, some of which seem tailor-made for weddings. Some are as elegant as a lace wedding dress, while others are as passionate as a bouquet of red roses.

Today, I’m opening my personal collection to showcase some of the most classic, popular, and beautifully symbolic wedding stamps. Whether you’re hosting a vintage manor wedding or a trendy gallery party, there’s something for everyone.

I. The Pinnacle of Practicality and Elegance: The Wedding Cake Series

Year: Released multiple times (classic models such as 2009, 2014, etc.)

Face value: 2 ounces (designed for overweight invitations)

Style: Traditional, sacred, noble

If you don’t want the hassle of calculating postage or want to avoid ruining the aesthetics with two stamps, a “wedding cake” is definitely the best choice.

USPS is incredibly thoughtful; this stamp was designed specifically to complement those bulky wedding invitations (2 ounces). The design typically features a silver and white color scheme, with an image of an elegant multi-tiered cake adorned with delicate buttercream flowers. Like a pearl on the invitation, it’s quiet, tasteful, and blends perfectly into any formal wedding theme.

Romantic meaning: “Life is like this cake with layers upon layers of sweetness. From now on, every layer will be sweet.”

II. An Unsurpassable Pop Art Classic: “LOVE” (1973)

Year: 1973

Denomination: 8 cents (must be used in combination)

Style: Retro, Bold, Artistic

If you want your invitations to “bomb” among your friends, choose this one.

This is the USPS’s first stamp themed around “love,” designed by pop artist Robert Indiana. The slanted letter “O” has long been a classic symbol in the history of world design. The contrasting red, blue, and green colors create a striking visual impact.

How do you use it? Because it’s only worth 8 cents, you need to combine it with stamps of other denominations (like vintage floral stamps) and stack them together (vintage stacking). This collage style is currently incredibly popular on Instagram.

Romantic meaning: “Love is bold, love is colorful, and love should be spoken out loud.”

III. The Love Letter in the Language of Flowers: Celebration Corsage

Year: 2017

Face value: 2 ounces

Style: Natural, forest-themed, soft

If your wedding is held in a garden, lawn, or forest, this is your lucky ticket.

This stamp’s design is inspired by the corsages, or wrist corsages, worn by brides at weddings. The design features delicate orchids, roses, and ferns against a soft cream background. The brushstrokes are incredibly fine, resembling a small watercolor painting.

It also comes in a 2-ounce denomination, making it incredibly practical. It looks amazing on kraft paper or textured cotton envelopes.

Romantic meaning: “We plant love and watch it bloom in the sunshine.”

IV. Victorian Romance: Victorian Love in 1999

Year: 1999

Denominations: 33 cents / 55 cents (different versions available)

Style: Intricate, Classical, Dreamy

For some brides who dream of a Downton Abbey-style wedding, this stamp is their ticket to the ceremony.

The design of this stamp imitates Victorian papercutting and lace styles. The pattern is usually a heart-shaped wreath with a pair of white doves or roses in the center. Its lines are extremely intricate and exquisite, exuding a sense of vintage elegance.

Romantic meaning: “Love is an art that requires patient refinement and a promise that transcends time.”

V. A Modernist Choice: Keith Haring Love (2025)

Year: 2025

Face value: Forever

Style: Avant-garde, street, energetic

Who says weddings have to be dignified? If you’re a fun, quirky, and art-loving couple, why choose boring flowers?

This collaborative stamp with Keith Haring uses his signature bold lines and little figures to transform “love” into a party. It’s vibrant and dynamic. If your invitation design is bold (such as using fluorescent colors or contrasting black and white), this stamp is the perfect finishing touch.

Romantic meaning: “Our love is about dancing happily together.”

VI. Purchase suggestions for newlyweds

After seeing all this, do you suddenly feel that the national flag ticket in your hand doesn’t seem so appealing anymore?

Before you place your order, I have two final suggestions:

“Out of print” does not mean “unavailable”: For example, the 1973 LOVE series or the 1999 Victoria series, although the post office has long since stopped selling them, can still be found on the secondary market (discount market). Moreover, because the original print run was large, the price is not high.

The art of mixing and matching: Don’t limit yourself to a single stamp. Try pairing a main stamp (such as a 2-ounce cake stamp) with a smaller denomination supplementary stamp (such as a 5-cent grape stamp). This not only makes up for the postage but also adds a sense of “personalized” sophistication.

Your invitation deserves this last little bit of “ingenuity.”

Choose a stamp that represents your story. The moment it’s affixed to the envelope, your wedding has already begun.
